Patterdale Apple Day celebration is to be on Sunday 18th October at Christ Church First School and the Key Centre in Feltham Lane, BA11 5AJ, from 1pm to 4pm. There are still some things to sort out, but so far we have an apple expert, who can identify the variety of your apples; apple tasting; apple pressing; hot food – including some roast hog and apple sauce; apple games; storytelling and stalls.
We are now looking for:
Volunteers: we need people to help plan games for the day, and lots of people who can help out at the Apple Day event itself, helping to press and sell apple juice; organise the apple tasting and apple identifying, run the games, and so on. Anyone can help – whether you’ve done anything with the Apple Group or Sustainable Patterdale before or not, and whether you want to be involved more in future or not. Please let me know if you think you can help – even if it isn’t for the full 3 hours – by replying to this email.
Apples: We would like lots of different varieties for people to taste and plenty of apples for juicing. If those of you with trees can spare a few for tasting, that would be very welcome. And if you have a bit of excess we could use for juicing, that would be great (a carrier bag load or small box can help us press a few litres of juice).
Lots of people to come along on the day: There is a flier with some more information, and they will be going out to schools in the next couple of weeks, hopefully.
